Huusli Features

Completely remodeled in 2020. Named after our favorite hotel in Switzerland, Huusli is Swiss-German for “little house.” As Chicago residents we always looked for a small getaway with charming features, modern amenities and a strong design vibe, but couldn’t find something that was within our price range. So we decided to buy the perfect couple’s retreat of our dreams, completely remodel it, and share it with you.

The cabin was built in 1951 so please note that the walls are thin and not insulated, and even with the bedroom doors closed you can hear other people from nearly every room. This is why we promote it as a cabin for a couple. Of course you can certainly invite another couple to join, or your friends, but just note the sound issue.

The cabin was built in 1951 so the staircase is narrow and the individual steps are “short.” Please keep this in mind as both bedrooms are upstairs, bathroom is downstairs, and you will also be bringing your luggage up and down.

Unfortunately, it’s not not set up for toddlers or young children due to the narrow staircase.

We currently do not allow pets.

Master Bedroom

Queen size handmade luxury hybrid queen mattress, a 43″ flatscreen TV and light dimming curtains.

Guest Room

2 Twin Nectar mattresses, quality pillows and linens, USB chargers and light dimming curtains.

Anthropologie wallpaper, Rejuvenation sinks, Tom Dixon pendant lights and a luxury shower.

Sunroom

Four season sunroom with dining table that can seat 6. Perfect work station with pretty view-wifi is excellent. Also a small seating area for 4 with a log couch for coffee in the mornings or a cocktail in the evening.

Chefs Kitchen

Fully equipped kitchen with brand new appliances, toaster, blender, staub dutch oven, cast iron skillet, crock pot, microwave, raclette for two and fondue set! Everything you need to make an unforgettable meal.

Beach Access

Only 3 blocks from the beach!  A 5 minute walk (or 2 min in the golf cart) and you are at stop 41.5 putting your feet in the sand of Lake Michigan. Beach towels, blankets, umbrella and insulated backpack included!

Our Keurig makes single serve (with pods) or drip coffee (with grounds). We keep the coffee stocked because waking up is always better with coffee. Monin syrups and sugar/sugar replacements provided.

Affectionately named “Boop”

If you are renting in the spring, summer, fall, this is best way to cruise around or get to the beach. Although it is not a standard feature, you can rent Boop on a separate contract.
